I GOT HIGH

WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS

Diesel ready for take off

Well this was a special maiden flight both for this little 2 1/2 year old and indeed myself. Many of you will know that Mal passed away in November last year and picking up the pooches was his side of things and bless him right up to the end he travelled over for dogs but now this is my job.

Having waited a couple of weeks due to bad weather Chris (our pilot) phoned on Wednesday to say there was a break in the weather tomorrow (Thur) and we should go for it.

At short notice I had to get 'doggy sitters' and my sincere thanks goes to Judy, Maggie and Rose who stepped in and did a couple of hours each until I got back to Jersey, many thanks you guys.

We left Jersey at 9.15 a beautiful sunny day and guess what not a flutter of wind. I used the word apprehensive but frightened would have been more honest. I just wondered what you did if you felt sick half way across the Channel!!!! (answers on a postcard please). Well it wasn't to be it was so so smooth and I did a lot of sightseeing as we got across the Channel and made our way up to a little airport called Connington near Peterborough. We 'parked' on the grass and it was a very small aeroclub but we had a bacon buttie and a cuppa whilst waiting for Sharon to arrive. Unfortunately she was a bit held up so I didn't get a chance to have a chat as, of course, I have never met her.

Anyway Diesel as he is now known was a little reluctant to get in the plane but Sharon lifted him and I said in the back with him. Periodically he had a look at the passing clouds, bless them I often wonder what goes on in their little heads.

We arrived back in Jersey at 10 to 2 all in all a journey of just under 4 hours. I doubt if I will be lucky enough to have such a smooth journey again so as I said above any quick fixes for feeling sick would be much appreciated!!

Tom and Ann head home with their new boy Diesel

Our little plane goes into hospital for the next few weeks so any homes will have a little wait. Hopefully I will meet Sharon properly next time and once again thank her for finding a dog for Tom and Ann. And Chris...... what can I say thanks for such a smooth journey and a commentary on what was beneath us as we travelled up.
