FINISHING ON A DOUBLE

Phoenix and Peggy

I am sure Mal would have been thrilled that we ended up with two more homes before the end of the year. They have great significance as these are the first two homings since I lost Mal in November.

Firstly Jo and Matt in Guernsey really wanted a dog whilst they were still off on holiday over the Christmas period. It was a rush but Sharon as usual came up trumps and found us a black 3 year old boy called Phoenix Legend. At the same time she had a bitch returned due to the owner dying and I thought it would be a good idea to pop her in the plane as well as I did have a prospective home here in Jersey.

Jo and Matt has a friend who is a pilot so he flew Phoenix and Peggy to Guernsey. Peggy had to spend the night will Mick and his boys Blue and Monty for which I am so so grateful. He loved having her and I think he had a real soft spot for her. Meanwhile I had to get in touch with Chris which I felt awful about with it being Christmas hols, but Chris being Chris said not a problem and that he would take me to Guernsey next day.

Well this was my maiden trip, as many of you know Mal always went over for the dogs but this now is down to me. Maybe it was good to have just a short trip as a taster, god small plane and it was extremely windy but I survived and picked Peggy up in Guernsey where Mick has brought her down. Jo and Matt also came so I was able to meet Phoenix.

Chris got Peggy and I back to Jersey and I brought her home to meet the gang, what a lovely, lovely girl not phased about anything, and lets face it she had yet to meet Kentee!!!!!!! Gill came round with her kids at 12 and said immediately she would have her. Totally unprepared (neither she nor I expected to have a dog so soon) I managed to get some bits and bobs together and off the little one went to her new home and her new life.

So with that short journey under my hat I now prepare for the long trip to the U.K. at the end of January, different ball game as this is about 1 1/2 hours each way and guess what you can get off mid way!!!!!!

It only remains for me to thank Sharon yet again for finding dogs at such short notice, Paul for bringing them down, Mick for his b and b services to Peggy, Chris for also flying me at such short notice and Gill for deciding there and then to take Peggy.
