CHARITY WEEK 2014

Another day another dollar another good charity week. Bit doubtful about the weather on the first Saturday as we had to pack up early because of heavy drizzle, real shame as there were so many people in town mainly mothers just getting those last bits for their kids to go back to school on the Wednesday, and mums with big smiles on their faces as the summer holidays come to an end (sorry mums but you know its true!!!).

A few familar visitors appeared it's so lovely when they come over and have a chat. Orange Dog and Gump always pull the crowds and this year was no exception.

Over the last couple of years we have noticed a difference in the amount of people and this year was no exception. Having said that I sold all 50 packets of our charity Christmas cards - don't worry folks I will be ordering more.

Bethany a little girl who came to the Sanctuary a few years ago terrified of dogs is now at ease with them having met out guys and as you will see from this photo any fear she had has long gone. My dogs are used to people and big hugs but kids always check with owners before you touch strange dogs.

This year we had three days outside Hamons and three days by the side of British Homes Stores (beside the ice-cream stand which is a bonus) there is plenty of room and because the sun is lower in the sky we had no problem keeping the dogs cool. It's crazy I often meet up with friends once a year at Charity week which is nice - I become a townie for six days and if we are quiet I shoe watch can't believe how these young girls walk in some of them - oh dear is that a sign of getting old, guess so.

Teddy gave Gump a day off on Tuesday but he was back in action for the rest of the time. Orange Dog was quite happy to attend all six days and quite honestly the two of them were so spoilt Leslie from Au Caprice brings them treats and has done for years. Other people roll up with chewy sticks etc. We have to tell them not to mention it to the ones that stay at home.

On Friday Emma, Lily and Anna turned up they have greyhound Mylo and now the most adorable 11 week old Bishon Frise. Big cuddles all round little Poppy is just adorable and when the guys had given her the once over and her them she then decided to wash their ears. I love puppyhood and enjoyed my cuddle and later the same day had more loves with a seven month poodle so that was my fix.

So another charity week ends and all I can say is that the public, as usual were fantastic, thanks to Alison, Hilary, Cass and all that gave me a break to have a wee and get a sandwitch, most grateful. See you all again next year hopefully same time same places.
